INTERNSHIP POSITION SUMMARY
The Cincinnati Art Museum has an opening for a part-time Decorative Arts and Design Intern. This paid internship will be in the fall of 2022 for 12 weeks. The museum is seeking an intern to assist the Curator of Decorative Arts and Design with the projects on exhibition development and permanent collection documentation. The intern will work in the Curatorial department and gain a better understanding of the span of curatorial work related to decorative arts and design.
ESSENTIAL INTERNSHIP FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under the overall direction of the Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Research on new acquisitions
- Investigation and documentation of works in the permanent collection
- Organize existing research and installation documentation related to the recent Joseph Urban bedroom project/exhibition for proper preservation in CAM’s object files
- Cataloging items for accession
- Other duties as assigned
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS
- The intern should be pursuing a degree or a new graduate with a degree in art history, museum studies, or in a related field of study.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently is required.
- Strong research and writing skills are essential.
- Intern must be a team player with strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various and diverse groups of people.
- Writing sample is required with an application.
