Instructor - Electro Mechanical Engineering Technology
Overview:
Cincinnati State invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor position to provide instruction in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology courses and occasionally teach Electrical Engineering Technology program courses. Qualified candidates will provide technically relevant instruction in lecture and laboratory in the areas of automation, controls, robotics, lasers, energy and/or electrical circuits. This position will be responsible for but not limited to classroom and/or online instruction in courses such as;
  • Robotics
  • Motors & Controls
  • Process Instrumentations
  • Programmable Logic Control
  • DC and AC Circuits
Essential Duties:
  • Develop and deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons. Assist in the development of new and maintenance of existing courses/curricula. Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.
  • Ensure that students achieve course and learning outcomes as defined by the program chair.
  • Complete, as directed, all start and end of semester responsibilities, including submission no-show rosters, final grades and other designated materials to the Academic Office.
  • Maintain office hours to answer questions and handle course related matters.
  • Respond to requests (e.g., from students, academia area chairs, department heads, committee chairs, Records office) in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Support College and Division outreach and recruiting events.
  • Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Robotic Engineering, Robotic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years industry, business, or teaching experience in any of the related teaching subject areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 2 years of teaching experience in an academic environment.

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities in the classroom and laboratories.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral with the ability to communicate/interact effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
  • Excellent customer service skills in problem solving, analytical, decision-making, project management skills, and time management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, be self-motivated, work independently, and be committed as a team player, pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere in program and curriculum development.
  • Computer based software, analytical, and report writing skills.
