Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and tax preparation, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns for our clients.
Responsibilities and skills:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses
- Review financial records such as income statements and documentation to determine appropriate tax deductions
- Stay up-to-date on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information for tax preparation
- Identify potential tax credits and liabilities
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns
-Strong understanding of financial concepts and principles
- Proficient in 10-key typing for efficient data entry
- Ability to write clear and concise financial reports
- Experience with Xero, Sage, or other accounting software systems
- Knowledge of debits, credits, general ledger accounting, and double-entry bookkeeping
- Self-motivated individual with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Must have a strong accounting background, experience in preparing financial statements, and preparation of individual, partnership, corporate, and fiduciary tax returns of varying complexity.
-Must be capable with write-ups, reviewing, adjusting, and closing books for business clients.
- Knowledge of preparation and filing of various returns (Payroll, sales and use tax, etc.)
- Interacting with clients to obtain additional information on accounting and tax matters
- Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare various returns
- Strong communication skills to provide clients with information and advice to ensure correct tax form completion
- Handling of tax agencies notices and correspondence
- Research tax regulations and requirements for clients
- Proficient with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Etc.)
- Review data on forms prepared by others to detect mathematical errors and data entry
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- Proven experience as a Tax Preparer or similar role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with double-entry bookkeeping and 10-key typing
- Understanding of technical accounting terms and concepts
- Experience in corporate accounting or public accounting is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
