We’re looking to add the best-of-the-best to our creative team and this Senior Technical Packaging Production Artist role is an important one. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Technical Packaging Production Artist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in translating packaging graphics from our creative design team into production-ready mechanical files using MAC-based Adobe Illustrator. This position requires a meticulous approach to ensure accuracy and consistency in preparing artwork for the packaging print production process.
What does an average day look like?
- Driving Results: Collaborate closely with the creative packaging design team to interpret packaging graphics and design concepts. Use MAC-based Adobe Illustrator to create production-ready mechanical files for packaging artwork.
- Taking Ownership: Ensure that packaging artwork files are prepared accurately and efficiently, adhering to design specifications and brand guidelines. Verify color accuracy and consistency, including CMYK and Pantone spot colors, to meet print production requirements. Conduct pre-flight checks on artwork files to identify and address any technical issues or errors. Prepare packaging mechanicals for various printing processes, including flexography, lithography, and digital printing. Maintain organized files and documentation, including version control and asset management, to facilitate workflow efficiency.
- Making Decisions: Coordinate with printing vendors and suppliers to ensure seamless transition from artwork preparation to production.
- Cultivating Relationships: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve any packaging production-related issues.
- Instilling Trust: Gather and record information from business partners and suppliers that facilitates - - efficient studio workflow through Production (i.e. legal, template, print specifications, etc.).
- Customer Focus: Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in packaging production.
What background should you have?
- 5 years of experience as a packaging production artist in an agency or brand environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, packaging design, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in MAC-based Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is required; experience with other design software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of packaging design principles, color theory, and print production processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience in packaging production or prepress roles is preferred.
- Familiarity with printing technologies and file preparation for various printing processes.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
