What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fish Cutter - CT position at Citarella?
As a member of the Fish team, Fish Cutters are skilled at cleaning, butchering and preparing various fish/seafood products for Citarella’s stores. This role will have a solid understanding of proper fish butchering and seafood in a high volume, fast paced department while working in a cold-climate environment. You have advanced knife skills, seeking to minimize waste, support Fish Associates, as well as learn new butchering skills, seasonal seafood products and overall Fish Department operations. Please note that the Fish Department is a 24hr operation due to the nature of the product procurement.
Responsibilities:
- Breaking down, filleting of various fish products.
- Support Fish Associate workload when needed, e.g. gutting, cleaning, de-scaling, removing bones, portioning.
- Package and label all orders to ensure correct allocation of product to store locations.
- Maintain and stock product in warehouse, understanding product dating and inventory control.
- Maintain clean and sanitary workstation and storage area.
- Follow all safety guidelines/requirements.
- In addition, other duties/projects/assignments as directed by management.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience cleaning and cutting various types of fish.
- Advanced knife skills required.
- Solid knowledge of fish products.
- Effective interpersonal & communication skills, and able to work in a team environment.
- Follow sanitary and safety guidelines.
- Ability to work in a cold refrigerated environment for your entire shift.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of position including lifting loads of up to 80 lbs.
