What are the responsibilities and job description for the North America Treasury and Trade Solutions Business Management and Strategy - VP position at Citi?
Overview:
The Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) North America franchise is significant in size (approximately $3.0B in annual revenues and roughly one-third of TTS global revenues) with steady growth and a significant beneficiary of the firm's Technology investment dollars. As such, the business has an increasing need and demand for a robust business management function to support the business front-to-back and help drive strategic decision making across Product and Sales. This role sits within the COO team which directly supports the TTS North America Region Head, COO, and respective TTS North America senior Leadership team.
The business management function covers a wide variety of responsibilities across the TTS organization. It takes leadership of all strategic planning activities, internal and externally facing management reporting and communications including regional Product and Sales scorecards, business-wide strategic initiatives, technology spend monitoring and optimization, cross-product analysis and trend monitoring, and talent / resource optimization. The role works directly with and requires building strong relationships with the NA TTS Senior Leadership team (COO, regional Product and Sales heads, Market Management, and functional partners in Finance, Technology, Operations/Service, Compliance, Risk, Legal, and HR) as well as Global product partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning – Contribute to the ideation and help articulate the overall TTS and North America region strategy to both senior level management and the broader TTS organization. Includes understanding and communicating the underlying market trends, competitive landscape, as well as contributing to key decision making and coordination for strategic business investments (e.g. annual technology budget)
P&L management – work with Finance and Product teams to review and understand monthly P&L results including the underlying drivers and trends across the product portfolio. Includes having a firm grasp on the business and client drivers (e.g. transaction volumes) and the associated Plan targets, a prospective view of future risks/opportunities and the actions needed to achieve or mitigate them, and the impact of strategic initiatives (revenue and productivity/expense)
Technology investment process – Work with products, Sales, Market Management, and Technology to coordinate Technology investment process. Includes identifying key areas of investment for North America, including prioritization, creating senior management facing materials to support ask, optimizing and enhancing current process and creating an ongoing tracking process to monitor spend and update prioritization as variables change
Core KPI Reporting / Accountability – Create and track the core KPIs that demonstrate overall business health and momentum against growth targets (including Sales activity and core business transactional balance sheet drivers). This also includes maintaining and monitoring scorecards across the NA Leadership team (e.g. Must Win Battles / key initiatives) that will be a primary input into the mid-year and year-end performance measurement process as well as to drive accountability for execution of key strategic priorities
Management/Executive level reporting – gather data and create presentation material / senior-level talking points for internal and external reporting and communication purposes (e.g. Quarterly Business Reviews, senior ad-hoc reviews, external constituents including regulators and industry consultants)
Strategic projects/initiatives – support strategy projects/initiatives to drive efficiencies, increase bottom line, improve internal/external to TTS partnerships, as well as others that emerge
Communications – lead the creation and dissemination of both targeted and broadcast communications and the overarching communication strategy (e.g. Town Halls, VoE/other talent initiative progress, periodic e-mail newsletters, etc.)
Talent programs and resource optimization – includes strategic reviews of organizational structure and identifying areas of opportunity (span of control, functional utilities, etc.). Also includes providing support for driving regional talent initiatives
Ad-hoc analysis – supporting ongoing needs as they arise from the TTS NA region head
Development Value:

Qualifications
6 years relevant experience, preferably with exposure to Transaction Services space
Experience in having worked in a cross-functional role with influencing skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill information into salient points and clearly articulate the underlying 'theme' and message
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with multifunctional teams (Product, Sales, Finance, HR)
Solid organizational skills and ability to work autonomously; self-starter
Capacity to proactively anticipate, identify, and resolve problems
Ability to multitask within tight timelines and pick up new tasks quickly
Propensity to seek and develop linkages among products and client scenarios
Desire to drive projects from ideation or assignment to execution
Ability to present internally and externally to senior executives
