SUMMARY
 
The primary responsibility of the AVP/Business Development Officer is to contribute to the management and growth of the Northern Region Retail and Commercial Loan Portfolios by assisting the SVP/Northern Market President develop new customer relationships and service existing customer relationships; both Retail and Commercial.  
 
The AVP/Business Development Officer will become well-versed in both CBK Retail Loan Products and CBK Commercial Loan Products to assist both Retail and Commercial Loan Customers.  CBK Retail Loan Products include a variety of Consumer and Mortgage Loan Options such as In-House Mortgage Loans, Home Construction Loans, HELOCs, Auto Loans, Boat/RV Loans, Personal Loans, Credit Cards, and Secondary-Market Mortgage Loan options.  CBK Commercial Loan Products include Commercial Real Estate Loans, 1-4 Family Rental Properties, Revolving Lines Of Credit, Equipment Loans, Construction, etc.
 
The AVP/Business Development Officer will provide a superior customer experience and promote a sales and service culture through coaching and motivating other CBK Team Members;  Meets or exceeds set performance / loan goals established for the position through new business development activities, referrals and retention of account relationships;  Makes and services a variety of mortgage and consumer loans - secured and unsecured;  Provides portfolio maintenance and various customer services as required;  Operates within assigned credit authority ensuring that established policies and procedures are followed;  Responsible for cold calling new customers to help in meeting established loan goals.  The position will have a greater emphasis on Commercial Loan Portfolio Management and Growth.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide professional and courteous service to all customers and CBK Team Members.
  • Generates new business by professionally and aggressively building relationships and selling the complete range of bank products and services, with a focus on loan growth and loan related services.
  • Generates loan growth by acquiring new customers and by helping close transactions with existing customers. Works to increase products / services per household and to deepen customer relationships with the bank.
  • Works with branch staff to generate leads.
  • Responsible for meeting sales volume and/or goals as assigned.
  • Openly communicates to all departments within the bank.
  • Knowledgeable of all bank's Mortgage / Consumer / Business loan products including In-House Mortgage Loan Options, Home Construction Loans, HELOCs, Auto Loans, Boat/RV Loans, Personal Loans, Credit Cards and Secondary-Market Mortgage Loan options and Commercial Real Estate Loans, 1-4 Family Rental Properties, Revolving Lines of Credit, Equipment Loans, Construction, etc.
  • Interview Mortgage/Consumer/Business Loan Applicants to obtain appropriate information.
  • Offers types of loans, terms, and loan amounts consistent with applicant’s needs and repayment ability.
  • Analyzes and evaluates credit applications following bank policies and procedures.
  • Compiles all required information from customer to underwrite Mortgage/ Consumer/ Business Loans.
  • Approves and funds loans within established lending limit.
  • Prepares files and loan presentations with recommendation for review by an Officer with a credit authority sufficient to approve such loans as necessary, or for approval by the appropriate bank credit committee as necessary. 
  • Ensures the preparation of forms and legal documents required for mortgage/consumer/business loans are complete and accurate.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable law and regulations.
  • Responsible for understanding and completing various debit and credit transactions associated with loan closings, loan payments, loan payoffs, etc.
  • Approved loans are forwarded to loan processing, complete with any and all necessary documentation for the subject loan to be processed accurately for closing.
  • Schedules and conducts loan closing.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with real estate agents, contractors, builders and business owners, to solicit new business or better serve existing business.
  • Calls on potential customers/businesses, identifies banking needs, and makes proposals for new business.
  • Services existing deposit and loan customer relationships
  • Responds to customer inquiries, contacting customer about delinquent payments, payment deferrals and loan extensions.
  • Responsible for collection activities on loans as needed.
  • Participates in civic and community activities to generate visibility for the bank.
  • Work is varied in nature with changing priorities.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
 
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS:  
This job is designated as an MLO position and as such must comply with the S.A.F.E. ACT regulations and be registered with the NMLS registry. The MLO must also comply with the bank's Safe Act policy as approved by the Board of Directors. 
 
SALES:
This position promotes sales strategy of the bank in order to meet the objectives set forth in the bank’s annual sales goals established.
 
 
ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position is responsible for the management and growth of any assigned loan portfolio and business development production goals.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university preferred; or 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and analyze technical journals, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Ability
to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the
business community. Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, safety rules, credit policy and loan procedure manuals.  Ability to write and produce reports and correspondence for presentations to the CBO or appropriate authority. 
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, debt to income, interest, commissions, and percentages.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving complex variables in changing situations.
 
 
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have thorough knowledge of all products, services and policies of the bank.  Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with customers and CBK Team Members.  Good cross-functional working relationship bank-wide.  Leadership ability.  Uses a personal computer or on-line terminal, calculator, printer and other office machines in the branch.
