Citizens is seeking a Communications Partner for ESG Communications to support a strategic, highly integrated, and proactive communications strategy for Citizens’ ESG work across the company. This communications professional will bring storytelling skills to the role, as well as an understanding of the subject matter and the nuances of this work, which includes all of the components of Citizens’ ESG initiatives, with a focus on social impact and sustainability. The role will be responsible for supporting communications programs that bring to life Citizens’ long-term commitments, and achievements in this space, as well as the work underway today aligned with the capabilities and strategies of the business. The ESG Communications Manager will play a key role in helping to communicate the company's evolving climate strategy with a keen understanding of external factors in this space.
Reporting to the Director of ESG Communications, the successful candidate will be comfortable managing external and internal communications to positively position ESG strategy to all stakeholders. This communications professional will bring a diverse set of experiences and possess the energy, drive, creativity and agility to operate within a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment. The successful candidate will have keen attention to detail, a strategic and proactive mindset, and strong critical thinking skills. The ESG strategy is set at the enterprise level, but the candidate will have to work closely with leaders throughout the company, and with communications professionals across Citizens corporate and business line functions.
The Communications Partner for ESG Communications will be responsible for supporting the positive positioning of the company with key stakeholders, externally and internally. Responsibilities will include:
- Integrated Communication Campaigns: Develop and implement proactive communication campaigns and tactics to promote the company’s ESG efforts that are well aligned with business line and corporate objectives.
- Ensure the messaging consistently articulates to all key stakeholders, including the media, consumers, leadership, employees, industry leaders/influencers, investors, community leaders, and the general public.
- External Communications and Media Relations: Work with VP, ESG Communications and public relations agencies to proactively position Citizens’ ESG capabilities within top-tier national, regional, and trade press.
- Internal and Employee Engagement: Develop and execute internal communications to educate, align and engage employees in Citizens’ ESG programs.
- Stakeholder Management: Work with business areas, Corporate Communications team, Marketing, Social and Digital functions to ensure communication plans are holistic, innovative and successfully implemented
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressively increasing experience planning and executing strategic communications programs.
- The ideal candidate will have a background in developing communications programs to further social impact and sustainability strategies.
- This communications professional will be a high-energy, strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to foster collaborative decision-making, and strong relationship building skills.
- Hands-on experience managing proactive and integrated communication campaigns, with a reputation for integrity, transparency and follow-through.
- Strong public relations experience working for or with agencies and proactively pitching media stories to enhance company’s reputation and perception amongst stakeholders.
- Strong experience in external, internal, and executive communications. Outstanding strategic, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong experience/knowledge of social impact programs and awareness of latest ESG and climate-related issues.
- Emotional Intelligence, including outstanding interpersonal, teamwork and organizational skills and a highly collaborative mindset.
- Experience integrating new technology and best practices to increase communications programs’ impact and efficiency.
Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
Bachelor’s degree required.
Hours & Work Schedule
40 hours per week (9am - 5pm) Hybrid in Westwood MA office 3 days a week and remote 2 days a week.
