State and Local Tax (SALT) Director

Citrin Cooperman is seeking a State and Local Tax (SALT) Director for our National Tax Practice.

As a State and Local Tax (“SALT”) Director with Citrin Cooperman, your role will include working with clients and internal Citrin Cooperman personnel performing tax research and analysis on a wide array of SALT matters and subjects including:

• Income and indirect tax nexus.
• Apportionment and revenue sourcing for income, business activity and indirect taxes.
• Sales taxability matrices and analysis for indirect taxes.
• Credits and incentives for job creation and qualifying investments.
• SALT planning and implementation.
• M&A SALT due diligence for pending transactions, and
• SALT controversies involving audits and administrative appeals.

The position involves working in a highly interactive and dynamic team environment within Citrin Cooperman’s National SALT practice. Candidates should have strong research and communication (i.e., writing, and oral) skills as well as a comprehensive understanding of multi-state tax concepts. Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting, LLM or master’s in taxation.
• CPA and/or JD preferred.
• Broad SALT experience, including income/franchise tax, personal income tax, and sales/use tax.
• 10 years of tax experience working in a public accounting or law firm of which at least 4 of the years was exclusively in SALT.
• Ability to grow strong team relationships.
• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing both internally and externally.
• Strong analytical and research skills in a firm or corporate environment.
• Highly organized.
• A strong desire to learn new concepts and apply these concepts real-time.

For positions in New York and California, the salary range is $150,000 - $260,000. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.
