We are a busy public library and makerspace that are community destinations for people of all ages to enjoy and learn. This position will mostly be providing coverage in the adult services area at the reference desk on the 2nd floor of the library.

Scope of Work
Possesses basic knowledge concerning library services which will include practical experience in library services and programs.
Is fully present. Gives customers their full attention and demonstrates a commitment to offer the best customer service.
Assists in use of the library or makerspace and its resources.
Assists in selection of appropriate resources.
Demonstrates and assists patrons with use of computers and devices.
Helps maintain physical spaces.
Public Services:
Assists patrons with technical questions concerning study room reservations, the use of internet computers and accompanying software, databases and electronic resources, reading devices including ereaders and other mobile devices. Creates displays, reading lists and promotional materials utilizing Google Drive and programs like Canva. Answers basic reference questions using print and electronic resources. Offers reader's advisory to patrons of all ages. Set up equipment including sound system, multimedia projector, laptop configuration, for meetings or events. Assists with various Public Services programs and projects as assigned.
General Duties:
Greets and welcomes the public. Provides customer assistance in person or on the phone. Interviews patrons and determines information needs; gives instruction in the use of the library catalog, Internet computers & accompanying software and other equipment such as copy machines and scanners, databases and resource materials; answers reference questions using print and electronic resources; recommends books and other library materials; takes interlibrary loan requests, meeting room inquiries, and keeps statistics. Responds to and resolves routine customer needs that may include location of materials; information regarding library services or programs and; interpretation of library policy;. Sets-up equipment including sound system, multimedia projector, laptop configuration, TV/DVD for meetings or events. Refers patrons to other staff as appropriate. Maintains confidentiality of all patron data and information.
Assists librarians in collection development and maintenance as needed including weeding, shifting and shelving materials. Assists in maintaining the library areas to include straightening, picking up materials, organizing, re-shelving, or shelf reading.
Training - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience - One year experience in library work or a closely related field requiring extensive public contact in person and on the phone. This position will mostly be providing coverage in the adult services area at the reference desk on the 2nd floor of the library.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - Bilingual skills in Spanish and English desirable. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry.
Salary : $21 - $29
