General Services is currently seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a Utility Worker for the Facilities Management Division. In this role, you will provide maintenance support for various buildings across the city. Facilities Management is responsible for building management and maintenance, including predictive/preventative maintenance and work order processing. FM serves the needs of the City's Agencies for facility maintenance and management to include all expenditure tracking. The staff is responsible for providing a full range of building services, some of which include: plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, painting, maintenance of doors/window/walls/ceilings/floors, and custodial. Schedule: All in office and field. 7am-330pm Monday through Friday. May be voluntary or mandated overtime (approximately 5 hours per week, sometimes may fall on a weekend). As a Utility Worker you can expect to: Perform event set-ups for all city hosted press conferences and events including PA sound systems, podiums, stages, chairs, tables, stations, tents; Direct support to Mayor and staff Place and remove bollards for events at Civic Center Park and City and County Building Perform exterior maintenance duties including mowing and edging fields and lawn areas, pruning shrubs, raking leaves, picking up litter, and clearing dumpster areas Perform unskilled, light to heavy physical labor on a variety of projects that involves lifting, physical exertion and the use of manual tools and limited use of small power operated tools Perform minor repairs to gardening and grounds equipment; Operate light weight equipment powered by small engines used for maintenance and cleaning such as power washer Perform seasonal snow duties such as plowing, salting, sanding, and removal of ice and snow by hand, truck, John Deere, or Kubota Move, remove, and relocate furniture, furnishings and equipment as directed; Move unwanted equipment from agencies to City Surplus Observe all common safety practices associated with operating small engines, hand and power tools and other work-related equipment Utilize hand operated construction equipment such as chainsaws, weed eaters, shovels, edger's, lawn mowers, power washers Perform vehicle upkeep by washing trucks as needed and keeping tools organized, pre-trip inspection on equipment for such things as fluid levels, leaks, condition of hoses and belts, tire pressure, brake lights, and related areas and secures, cleans, and cares for all tools and equipment needed for job assignments Perform other related duties as assigned About You Excellent customer service skills Experience with setting up and operating PA/Sound systems and sound boards including, cabling, connections, microphones, instrument amplification and multiple boxes Ability to lift up to 70 lbs Willingness and ability to work in all weather conditions Team player; willing to jump in and help wherever needed We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: Education requirement: None Experience Requirement: None Education/Experience Equivalency: None License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
