This position reports to CBES (City Building Engineering Services US) SUMMARY OF POSITION The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the creation of full electrical plans and specifications for permit and construction of new or remodeled supermarket stores or other commercial facilities, or for capital maintenance projects in those facilities. The Senior Electrical Engineer is also responsible for the review of electrical construction documents prepared by others for our client’s engineering consultants to assure conformance to the client’s criteria plans and to work with our clients to update existing design criteria for improved performance or cost-effectiveness. As part of this work, the electrical engineer shall assure that all electrical design elements are properly coordinated with other building systems. Primary Responsibilities Perform red-line reviews of electrical plans and specifications prepared by our client’s consulting engineers for conformance to criteria plans and specifications Prepare complete electrical construction plans and specifications, size and select electrical power distribution equipment, and detail the layout of equipment in the defined electrical/mechanical space Coordinate the electrical design with the client’s mechanical, refrigeration, automatic temperature control systems and with other building equipment or fixtures Coordinate the electrical design with the client’s outside architectural or MEPR teams Coordinate with electric utilities for proper design, selection and location of metering equipment and switchgear. Prepare and issue complete electrical installation bid packages. Conduct on-site due-diligence assessments and prepare documentation of existing electrical equipment and installations with reuse or replace recommendations Coordinate and resolve equipment quality, delivery and installation issues with the project manager, purchasing department, vendors, and contractors Conduct on-site inspections of new installations for conformance to plans and specifications. Issue deficiency reports and coordinate with the project manager for correction of deficiencies. Work with our clients to update existing design criteria for improved means and methods for performance, cost, and quality. Ability to travel up to 15% Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering 5 years’ experience with electrical engineering design in a retail construction setting P.E. required Previous experience with supermarkets and refrigeration equipment preferred Ability to analyze/redline electrical plans and provide solutions for improved performance and cost-effectiveness Strong oral and written communication skills to include direct customer interaction Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and applicable building codes.
