The City of Elk River seeks candidates for a fulltime Liquor Store Clerk position to work at Westbound Liquor Store. The fulltime Liquor Store Clerk serves as a cashier and stock handler.
This is a 40 hour per week position. Hours of work will include evenings, afternoons, mornings, and weekends. Availability on holidays is also required. See information about the work schedule in the detailed job description below.

Position Summary |
Essential Functions
- Performs cashier duties.
- Rings up sales, receives payment, gives change, provides petty cash services.
- Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties to maintain a clean store and orderly merchandise appearance.
- Performs inventory management activities.
- Moves merchandise and stock, unloads deliveries, moves stock to and from the storeroom; inspects and verifies incoming stock.
- Stocks merchandise on shelves, in coolers and on displays.
- Performs other Liquor Store duties.
- Makes bank deposits.
- Prepares daily cash reports.
- Supervises Part-time Liquor Store Clerk employees in absence of Liquor Store Manager.
- Performs other essential job duties.
- Regular and timely work attendance.
- Follows all safety procedures.
- Participates in safety training.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of state and local liquor laws.
- Skill in operating a cash register and 10-key calculator.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to quickly and accurately make change.
- Ability to communicate with the public.
- Ability to attend seminars and classes as directed.
- Ability to work a variety of hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to learn and operate computer based inventory management system.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One-year retail cashier experience.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Municipal Liquor Store experience.

Work Schedule
This is a 40 hour per week position. Hours of work will be evenings (2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) two to three times each week, mid-shift (10:00/11:00 a.m. to 6:00/7:00 p.m.) two to three times each week, mornings (7:00/8:00 a.m. to 3:00/4:00 p.m.) once or twice each week, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. one Sunday a month. Availability on holidays is also required. Employees must be flexible to work based on business needs.
