The Alexandria Court Service Unit is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of juveniles, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth. This is best accomplished through individually tailoring the right mix of accountability and rehabilitation to meet the identified risk and need levels for every juvenile. The 18th Court Service Unit is seeking three (3) qualified candidates to provide domestic and delinquent intake services, and juvenile probation and parole supervision. This individual will provide effective interventions and services for competency development and accountability to promote juvenile behavioral change and public safety.
In addition to the State salary, a local supplement may be provided by the City of Alexandria to persons selected for this position. Additional information pertaining to the supplement will be provided at the time of the interview.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and/ or experience of the criminal justice system to include court proceedings; ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, guidelines and procedures; knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques; knowledge and ability to assess needs and to develop case plans. This incumbent will have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing including the creation of written reports; knowledge and ability to identify community resources and human service agencies to support families; proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Word. A valid driver’s license is required, or the ability to obtain it by the date of hire.
A related degree from an accredited college or university in social work, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or equivalent/related experience is preferred. Some experience working with juveniles and their families, and community programming is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred for the position.
