Job Description
This position performs all types of tasks associated with maintaining the Civic Center Complex and its equipment. These tasks include, but are not limited to, minor electrical repairs, plumbing repairs, painting, and carpentry work. Also serves as the Civic Center Complex Liaison to the Facilities Department on larger maintenance tasks and projects. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as necessary by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains the upkeep of the Civic Center Complex and its equipment. Tasks include, but are not limited to, painting, drywall, minor locksmith work and door repair, minor wall and column repair, minor electrical repair, carpentry, concrete and construction related repairs and minor plumbing repairs.
- Maintains all hardware and equipment in facility (chairs, doors, thresholds, etc.).
- Assists Production Department and Event Supervisors when needed.
- Purchasing of small equipment and various supplies.
- Communicates with Event Supervisors and Production Department to schedule repairs and maintenance.
- Recommends equipment needs and maintenance projects to Civic Center Complex management in order to improve client services and facilities.
- Serves as liaison to Facilities on larger maintenance tasks and projects.
- Performs routine equipment and safety inspections.
- Assists Building Attendant crews as needed.
- Assists with snow removal as needed.
- Provides quality customer service to lessees, patrons and guests.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Thorough knowledge in basic construction, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs.
- Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate and perform minor repairs on forklifts, genie lifts, scissor lifts, power scrubbers and powered equipment.
- Ability to perform welding repairs is preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize projects.
- Ability to Multi-task.
- Ability to work long hours, split shifts, nights, weekends and holidays is required.
Licenses/Certification
Required Qualifications
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience with electrical and plumbing maintenance. Prior experience with drywall and painting required. Valid Texas Driver’s License, required.
