The City of Atchison is seeking a trustworthy, responsible, and self-motivated individual for the position of Finance Clerk. The employee in this position is responsible for a variety of data entry and accounting procedures to include accounts payable functions; as well as prepare and analyze comprehensive reports. Candidates must also display the communication and interpersonal skills needed to maintain good relationships with employees, city officials and the public. The ideal candidate will be organized and able to multitask; possess excellent oral and written communication skills; exercise good judgment; demonstrate a friendly and professional demeanor; and demonstrate a strong work ethic. Conflict resolution skills; dedication to quality; general math skills; computer literacy and general knowledge of office equipment; and excellent listening skills are necessary qualifications.
Required: 18 Years or Older; High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Valid Driver’s License; and the ability to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Preferred Qualifications: A technical degree or some college credit in accounting preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One to three years of clerical experience is also ideal.
