SALARY : $ 38,313.00 - $45,069.00 ANNUALLY

EDUCATION ACCREDITATION : Applicant's education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency.

ELIGIBILITY : Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK : Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.

PROBATION : All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

A Storekeeper II Auto Parts receives, stores and distributes automotive parts. The work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in a garage and warehouse where there is exposure to fumes, corrosive materials, heat and cold.

Work requires some bending, lifting, pushing and hauling of heavy stock items.

SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must

EDUCATION : Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.

EXPERIENCE : Have two years of experience in storing and issuing automotive parts.

NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES) : Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS : Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for receiving, issuing, storing and shipping automotive parts and materials.
  • Maintaining and updating parts records.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to utilize standard business computer software programs and the internet to perform routine research and to enter and maintain inventory and distribution records.
  • Knowledge of automotive parts groups and utilizing parts catalogs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, City agency personnel and associates.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Successful applicants will be placed on the employment certified eligible list for at least six months.

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.

Some positions in this class require Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certifications for F2 through F8 and E1 through E4 issued by EVT Certification Commission, Inc.

Employees must provide their own tools.
