We're looking for licensed physicians who are passionate about providing high-quality care to vulnerable patients in a collaborative community setting! As a Psychiatrist, you will provide psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to members of the Berkeley community who are dealing with severe mental illness. Our small clinic serves 260 patients, with varying levels of need, who are on Medi-Cal or uninsured.

Working in our Mental Health Division, you will collaborate with high-caliber colleagues in a team-based model with case managers for all patients, excellent nursing staff, and great administrative support. You will have the opportunity to work with patients in an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model as well as more traditional models, across programs such as our Homeless Full Services Partnership, Comprehensive Community Treatment, and Focus on Independence.

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Possession of an M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic school and completion of the third year of a psychiatric residency training program approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Required by date of appointment:
  • Completion of a psychiatric residency training program approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Possession of a valid license to practice medicine issued by the State of California
  • Possession of a current Controlled Substance Registration certificate issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration
Incumbent must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.
