Collects, interprets, and communicates process and operational performance data. Maintains Utilities databases and ensures data integrity and system performance. Specifically, monitors SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management) systems and historians at wastewater and water treatment plants.
Provides data analytic support to Utilities staff, such as forecasting water demand on a regular basis.
Prepares standardized performance reports and regularly updates performance indicator data on internal websites and the City’s Public Data Portal.
Participates in ensuring cyber security.
Assists staff in the implementation of new systems. Trains Utilities staff on how to use data systems and related software.
Tracks issues and updates utilities software when new versions are available.
Assists with the completion of annual reports that adhere to the American Water Works Association’s Effective Utility Management (EUM) framework.
Assists with enhancements to control systems and SCADA.
Conducts research regarding the applications of utilities data and modeling elsewhere in the industry.
Other duties as assigned.Minimum knowledge equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Minimum experience of three years analyzing, visualizing, and presenting data, preferred. Experience performing quality-control checks of data to ensure accuracy and system integrity, preferred.
Operational understanding of GIS concepts and mapping preferred.
Demonstrates skill with a variety of computational tools, including spreadsheets, relational databases, and reporting systems preferred.
Ability to learn the fundamentals of water treatment and wastewater treatment technology.Difficulty of Work
Work is performed in a modern office environment with no unusual physical demands. Work follows a routine daily schedule, but may require periodic evening or weekend work. Position includes numerous and frequent deadlines.

Incumbent maintains frequent contact with department superiors, co-workers, representatives of other departments, and the general public.
Regular supervision by Utilities Director. Ongoing interactions with Utilities divisions and ITS.
