Description
This is a semi-skilled level of routine cleaning work and utility maintenance work performed in and around the public buildings. Work involves the performance of manual labor and various tasks related to the cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of the public facilities, setting up and removing chairs, emptying garbage cans...etc.
Examples of Duties
Custodial:
- Empty garbage cans, clean up spills
- Clean stands, floor and remove trash
- General maintenance
- Overall cleaning and maintenance of facility
Crew:
- Install and remove hockey glass
- Setting up and removing chairs
- Setting up and removing garbage cans
- Preparing dressing rooms and metal detectors
Typical Qualifications
- Knowledge of safe practices in the operation of manual and power tools, and handling materials used in general maintenance work
- Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial work
- Knowledge of the operating hazards involved and safety precautions necessary when using cleaning materials, tools and equipment.
- Ability in the use and care of maintenance tools, hand tools, equipment and instrument’s related to maintenance
- Ability to learn assigned general duties readily and to adhere to prescribed departmental routines
- Ability to undertake responsibilities of some variety with initiative and judgment
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to handle confidential material on routine basis in an atmosphere of loyalty and trust
- Ability to effectively communicate technical data both orally and written
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and/or priorities
- Ability to manage functions, resolve conflict and work harmoniously with department heads, public officials, employees, outside professionals and the general public
- Skills in the use of two-way radio communication systems
- Prefer experience or training in building maintenance
Ability to lift 45lbs (depending on tasks)
Minimum age: 16 (depending on tasks)
Supplemental Information
8am-5pm - ability to adjust hours or work 1/2 shift
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
