What are the responsibilities and job description for the UEZ Coordinator position at City of Bridgeton?

The Bridgeton UEZ Coordinator oversees the City of Bridgeton’s UEZ Program.

This position calls for a bi-lingual individual (preferred) who is detail-oriented, creative, and self-motivated. This position requires engaging with local businesses, business recruitment, as well as researching, writing, (submitting) and administering UEZ-funded projects and programs. Projects include, but are not limited to revolving loan funds, redevelopment/revitalization of buildings, beautification projects, promotions, and similar projects and programs centered on economic growth, revitalization and job creation specifically in Bridgeton’s downtown central business district.

Because Bridgeton has a diverse merchant base and population, the successful candidate will work with a diverse group of downtown merchants, local Main Street program and other community groups. The position will include promoting local businesses and/or programs on a local and regional level, disseminating information, responding to citizen inquiries/concerns. The incumbent must have working knowledge of City functions and grant processes, coupled with public relations skills. The Business Administrator and Community Development Program Manager will provide essential information to assist the selected candidate and the employee will work under the direction of the Community Development Program Manager and Business Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bi-lingual Spanish/English Fluency preferred

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Possess a NJ Driver’s License

· Experience with grant writing

· Experience with program management

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are representative of the work required for this position. These are not to be

construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

· Become familiar and knowledgeable as to the New Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone statutes, laws, regulations and policies

· Become familiar with SAGE program used for the submission and reporting on UEZ projects

· Attend in-person or virtual meetings with State UEZ officials and other UEZ coordinators from around the State of New Jersey.

· Ability to maintain flexible work hours; NOTE the position may call for attendance/participation in occasional weekend or early evening activities and the selected candidate would be expected to adjust weekly work schedule to accommodate

· Promote the Urban Enterprise Zone Program to businesses within the zone that are uncertified, assist these uncertified businesses to become certified, assist certified businesses as required

· Administer UEZ revolving loan fund program to assist certified businesses

· Plan UEZ-funded programs and/or projects to assist downtown merchants with promotion and beautification;

· Administer downtown UEZ-funded local façade grant program;

· Engage with and represent the City of Bridgeton with local merchant groups

· Coordinate and collaborate with other nonprofit groups and organization within the Bridgeton community including Main Street and the Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce

· Under direction, participate in the planning and execution of various programs and initiatives centered on the revitalization of the downtown central business district

· Under direction, research, write, and administer UEZ-funded projects and grants for City-approved projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The UEZ Program Coordinator must be knowledgeable of the following principles, procedures, and concepts:

UEZ-related legislation, program rules, policies, requirements, and incentives

Considerable knowledge of the challenges facing small downtowns, merchants, and retail sector as well as evolving strategies for revitalization and how UEZ funds and incentives can support and sustain revitalization.

Knowledge of common real estate principals and historic preservation principles.

Considerable knowledge of grants; researching, writing, administering, reporting

Ability to speak to diverse groups of people within the community.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City Officials, City

employees, local businesses, and community groups.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

Work Location: One location
