This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a municipal liquor store and performs related work as required. Under the direction of the liquor store manager.
General· Opens and closes out the cash register and store - daily.
· Aids customers in the selection of items for purchase.
· Rings up sales.
· Performs daily maintenance and housekeeping duties for the store.
· Assists shift leads, category leads and managers in keeping items inventoried.
· Stocks items on shelves and in coolers.
· Inspects deliveries to ensure accuracy.
· Compiles regular cashier drops for tills.
· Periodically lifts and carries merchandise for customers.
· Lifts and moves large, heavy boxes.
· Operates standard business machines and appliances, including pallet stacker and WAV.
· Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCommunications: Must be able to read and understand correspondence, memoranda, and directives, and follow such directives. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with persons who do not speak English and are from a variety of different cultures. Must have ability to communicate with customers to accurately assist customers in a helpful manner with orders.
Decision Making: Must be able to act in a decisive manner, using good judgment. Must be able to assess problems and situations, anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives.
Interpersonal Relationships: Must be able to work in cooperation with other staff members. Must be consistent in dealing with people; must have the ability to accept criticism and/or discipline.

Must represent the organization with a courteous, helpful, and accurate business-like attitude. Ability to work as a team member.

Must be able to demonstrate initiative and independence in completion of work responsibility. Must be able to produce quality, accurate work, detect and correct errors, utilize work time properly and productively.
Technical Knowledge: Good knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in a business enterprise. Ability to perform duties for the day-to-day operation of a municipal liquor store.
Physical Abilities: Must have the ability to frequently lift objects up to 35 pounds from floor to shoulder height. Must occasionally lift 35 to 75 pounds from floor to waist. In order to complete the essential duties, this position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crawling, reaching above shoulder level and away from body, kneeling, twisting, turning, accurate balance, pushing, pulling, and lifting on a regular basis. Must be able to use hands for simple and firm grasping frequently; occasionally for fine manipulation. Must have the ability to read and discern visual images and written documentation. May work with a wide variety of equipment essential to complete assigned duties. Ability to work varied schedule as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to work weekends (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).
Desired Qualifications- Ability to speak, read or write any language other than English, including sign language.
