An employee in this classification will create, develop, implement, and conduct training programs for employees, as well as, coordinate with vendors and third-party training providers to arrange a variety of training programs. An employee in this position will also assist management to identify training needs, and institute plans for training new and existing employees. This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Human Resources, Health and Safety, Training and Development, Organizational Development, or a relevant field with two (2) years of training experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Proven work experience at least two (2) year as a Safety/Training Coordinator, Training Facilitator or similar role. Experience with interpreting or enforcing OSHA guidelines. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of organizational structure of City of Canton, preferred. Excellent organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks. Keyboarding skills. Ability to operate office equipment such as mobile devices, scanners, printers, fax machines, and copy machines. Knowledge of standard office procedures and techniques. Ability to communicate ideas effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to prepare administrative reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, City employees, other agencies, elected officials, and the general public. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software. Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA. Experience with e-learning platforms.

Assess training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups.
Develops routine correspondence. Creates processes for communicating with employees and management regarding training.
Educating employees on city-wide polices.
Develops various training plans and programs.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
Prepares annual training budget.
Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests.
Conducts or facilitates required and recommended training sessions.
Market available training to employees, and provide necessary information about sessions.
Collaborates with vendors and third-party training providers to arrange employee registration for and participation in outside training programs.
Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
Educate employees on safety standards and expectations.
May assist with safety walks and inspections.
Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
May assist with Investigating accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident.
Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies.
Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events.
Use known education principles and stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques.
Ability to comprehend a variety of informational documents including training attendance records, training requests, course outlines, curriculum outlines, and other reports and records.
Ability to comprehend a variety of reference books, manuals including various HR laws and regulations, union contracts, employee work rules, and Ohio Revised Code.
Attends meetings/trainings when necessary.
Meets with Director of Human Resources regularly to review correspondence and communications, and to discuss activities, problems, conflicts and concerns.
