Listed below are descriptions of various summer programs and staff positions the City of Casa Grande recruits for each summer. Rate of pay will depend on experience.

SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITIES:
Casa Grande Youth Theater
Casa Grande Youth Theater is a six (6) week program, beginning in June, for youth ages 8-17 years old. The program takes place Monday – Thursday, program times vary. Participants will learn all aspects involved in the production of play with a performance at the end of the program. Staff hours are typically 20-25 hours per week.
Science Programs
The Science program is a four (4) week program, beginning in June, for youth ages 4-13 years old. The program is held throughout the week, days/times vary. Small science experiments will be explored along with making a volcano. Staff hours are typically 10-15 hours per week.

Sports Camps
The Sports Camp program is a seven (7) week program, beginning in June, for youth ages 5-11 years old. The program takes place Monday – Thursday from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. A variety of sports themes are offered which include baseball, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and pickleball. The camps focus on skill development and sportsmanship. Staff hours are typically 10-15 hours per week.
Arts & Crafts Program
The arts and craft program is a six (6) week program, beginning in June, for youth ages 4-12 years old. The program is held throughout the week, days/times vary. A variety of mediums will be explored such as painting, messy media, clay, and 3-D crafts classes. Staff hours are typically 10-15 hours per week.

Kindergym
Kindergym is a four (4) week program, beginning in June, for youth ages 3-6 years old. The program takes place Monday – Thursday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A combination of basic movement and gymnastics skills, designed for children ages 3-6 years old. They will learn basic tumbling, along with activities that develop basic coordination and motor skills. Staff hours are typically 15-20 hours per week.

RECREATION LEADER I (AIDE)
Assist in organizing and conducting various recreational activities in the program; promote and develop interest in the different activities.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Works directly with the instructor and assists as needed; issue and collect games, arts and crafts supplies, equipment, etc. Teach basic skills of games, keep score, set up areas for activities and maintain order in program; clean and secure area used during activities.
KNOWLEDGE
Ability to work with youth and/or adults as well as individuals or large groups; some knowledge in first aid and safety precautions; some knowledge of score keeping, rules of various games and activities; preparation for use of such areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience in Parks and Recreation activities and ability to assist with organized recreational programs.
RECREATION LEADER II (INSTRUCTOR)
An employee in this position is responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive recreational program in instructor's area of expertise; assuring that program objectives are accomplished; exercising independent judgment and ingenuity in accomplishing program objectives and meeting the needs of the participants enrolled in the class/activity; cleaning and securing the facility at which the program is located and working in direct contact with the City of Casa Grande Community Services Department.
EXAMPLE OF WORK PERFORMED
Supervises and directs the class or activity and all recreation staff in the program; ensures that all participants in the program get the maximum amount of instruction to reach the goals of the class; outlines a program to obtain goals to be reached at the completion of the program and develops a weekly lesson plan. Employees are accountable for the efficient conduct of Recreation activities in accordance with departmental policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive knowledge and experience in recreational class and/or program development to be offered; ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct the activities and personnel in a well-rounded recreational program; ability to work well with children; ability to communicate with adults; some supervisory experience required and some knowledge in first aid and safety precautions preferred.
