About this Opportunity    
Provides clerical, administrative and legal support services such as trial preparation and case management to the City Attorneys.  Administers day-to-day operations for the office.  
  • Provides general support to attorneys and the City; ensures attorneys are aware of current case activity and deadlines; maintains department files and records.
  • Provides general litigation support, including drafting routine pleadings for municipal, state and federal courts and various state agencies.
  • Tracks open cases and litigation files, and schedules matters among parties. Assists in preparing discovery documents witness lists, exhibits lists, deposition summaries, and trial notebooks.
  • Performs basic research.  
  • Prepares routine correspondence, notices, lis pendens, certifications, and other legal documents. 
  • Assists in drafting ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and real estate documents.
  • Responds to inquiries and assists in preparation of responses to records requests and subpoenas. 
  • Updates and maintains case management document system; scans and indexes documents; submits finalized versions of ordinances.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned
  • Performs related work as required.

Required Education and Experience

  • At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Legal Secretarial Science, Paralegal studies or a related field and
  • One (1) to (3) years of experience with court procedures and legal office experience or
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 
  • Strong technological, computer, and typing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population

Required Licenses or Certifications

  • Ability to obtain Notary Public Commission within three months of appointment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a public setting or municipal background strongly preferred

Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
