Recreation Marketing & Special Events Specialist

The City of Charleston is looking for a part-time Recreation Marketing and Special Events Specialist to join its Recreation Department! In this role, you will assist in all marketing and promotional efforts of the department and help to coordinate special events for parks, recreation facilities and community centers.
  • Assists in social media, email and web marketing efforts.
  • Helps develop a strategic messaging calendar (social media, email blasts, reader boards, etc.).
  • Creates, designs and distributes marketing materials as needed.
  • Assists in planning and designing seasonal recreation guides.
  • Assists in organizing and executing seasonal special events.
  • Collects quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns, programs, and events.
  • Photographs and video records aspects of special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Associate's degree (AA/AS) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to utilize Microsoft Office software and Google Drive.
  • Experience with Adobe and Canva software.
  • 3 months prior experience.
