Chief of Police
The City of Claflin is currently taking applications for a full-time Chief of Police. Under supervision of the Mayor, the chief of police plans and directs the activities of the Police Department. This employee is responsible for the enforcement of laws and ordinances. This position has internal control in the administration of the department and responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of all department personnel. The chief will perform patrolling duties as required. Qualifications required: High school diploma, with a college degree preferred, graduation from KLETC, valid Kansas driver’s license and five years of law enforcement experience, with supervisory experience preferred. Salary depends on qualifications. Excellent benefit package. Residency in the city of Claflin is a requirement within 6 months of date of hire. Academy and experience request may be waived if the city determines it wishes to offer an applicant a position as a patrol officer and not as police chief.
