The City of Columbia, Illinois (population 10,999), located minutes from Downtown St. Louis, is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Director of Finance/City Treasurer.

This position performs highly responsible work, directing municipal financial/accounting operations. These operations include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial planning
  • General accounting
  • Administration of the City's $21.3 million budget
  • Debt administration
  • Purchasing
  • Receipt collection
  • Accounts payable
  • Payroll
  • Financial records maintenance
  • Account auditing
  • Cash management and investments
  • Financial reporting within generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

The Director of Finance/City Treasurer reports to the City Administrator and supervises a staff of three.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or a related field (including experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity)
  • Governmental/public sector accounting experience (highly desired)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (highly desired)

Compensation, including excellent benefits, is dependent on qualifications and experience.
