What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Fire Chief position at City of Coweta, OK?
Under the administrative direction of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief performs a variety of technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing, and implementing fire prevention suppression and emergency medical services to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire and other hazardous situations. Responds to major incidents and serves as Acting Fire Chief when assigned. This is a salaried position and is exempt from overtime.
Experience Required: 3 years of experience in Fire or Emergency Medical Services work, 3 of which must have been equivalent to Fire Captain or higher.
Minimum Education Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Fire Studies or closely related field. A combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted at the discretion of the City Manager.
Direct Supervisor: Fire Chief.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises Fire Captain, Firefighter/EMT, Firefighter/Paramedic; Firefighter and Volunteer Firefighter, directly or through subordinate officers. May supervise part-time and temporary staff, as assigned.
Primary Work Location: Fire station.
