Civil Engineer

The City of Crystal Lake is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Civil Engineer within its Public Works Department, Engineering Division. The duties of this position include design, construction and inspection of a variety of private development and capital projects, responds to various inquiries from the general public, other agencies and consultants, provides technical reviews of development and capital improvement projects, and performs other municipal duties.  This position reports to the Capital Engineering Manager.The successful candidate must be a self-starter and possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of stakeholders.  The candidate must have proven skills in project management with capital projects and municipal engineering principles and have proven technical skills to complete detailed reviews of private development and capital improvement projects and plans, plats and construction drawings along with the ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities.   Candidate must also have experience in various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.   The candidate must also have outstanding organizational and time management skills, and be detail oriented with multi-tasking capabilities in a fast paced environment.  Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to deal tactfully with the public.Requirements for this position include a Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering, Licensed Illinois Professional Engineer (PE), a minimum of four years increasing responsible experience as a Project Engineer, Project Manager and/or Civil Engineer; a strong background in private development design or construction observation with an emphasis in public water main/sanitary utility and/or stormwater design  is preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills.  Candidates must have an in depth knowledge of laws, regulations and practices related to the business of municipal engineering.  Salary range, DOQ:  $88,212 - $129,731 with excellent benefit package.
