Job Summary This is the highest level of supervision and may on occasion have some managerial responsibilities however, the primary duty remains to supervise Non-Exempt and/or Exempt positions in a medium or large operational unit. There may be several functional areas that are complex and have a substantial impact on overall operations. This level supervises employees in complex administrative, journey trade, highly complex technical and/or professional employees that provide services or products to persons inside or outside the organization. Job Description Overview The Aquatics Supervisor supports, supervises, and monitors the operations, care, and maintenance of aquatics facilities, community pools, and water parks for the Parks and Recreation Department. Oversees aquatics staff at specific locations or facilities. Essential Functions 1 Supervises, administers, and supports the activities of staff and daily operations of the aquatics facilities, community pools, and water parks; delegates authority and responsibility for assigned tasks to subordinates; monitors and oversees maintenance, safety, licensing, and general care; plans, implements, coordinates, monitors compliance, and evaluates policies and procedures; reviews and oversees work schedules of others all subordinate levels. 2 Recruits, hires, trains, and facilitates the success of a wide range of aquatics staff and personnel; oversees performance evaluations, feedback, disciplinary actions, and professional development; processes and approves payroll and supervises the handling of personnel issues and resolving conflict; conducts and ensures appropriate safety training including CPR, First Aid, and any other required training. 3 Analyzes, evaluates, and ensures production goals are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity; oversees the preparation of and evaluates, implements, and administers the department budget; tracks and oversees revenue and expenses while monitoring facility use safety. 4 Manages equipment, inventory, fixed assets, vendor sales, and supplies; manages and evaluates P-card transactions and ensures all invoices are paid for maintenance and other upkeep; provides reports and documents on revenue, spending, and patron metrics. 5 Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction; provides detailed information about hours of operation, park features and amenities, special events and promotions, resolving complaints, and accommodating special requests all while representing the City's core values of Empathy, Ethics, Excellence, and Equity. 6 Engages and works with vendors to ensure water parks and facilities are stocked with necessary supplies; monitors purchases and ensures all purchasing is in line with the budget. 7 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned. Knowledge and Skills 1 Knowledge of supervisory practices for aquatics facilities and operations. 2 Knowledge of pool mechanical system and water chemistry, salary budget, encumbrance account, environmental/ health local and state laws, cash handling, purchasing, human resources, risk management. 3 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures 4 Supervising, leading, directing, evaluating, and training crews, staff, aquatics and subordinate personnel. 5 Determining and making purchases for the maintenance and general care of facilities. 6 Serving on committees and recommending changes to improve quality and efficiency. 7 Ability to read and write; ability to develop reports and metrics. 8 Knowledge of administrative functions for a department. 9 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships. Experience 4 years experience in the development, organization, and delivery of aquatic programming and aquatic Licenses and Certifications Texas Driver's License Education High School Diploma, G.E.D. Salary Range $57,655.61 - $72,069.51 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
