This position is responsible for developing and overseeing the day-to-day editorial and operational function of the department; serves as lead author and editor of written products and messaging; may develop and coordinate projects and processes. May supervise or lead the work of others. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
- Serves as lead author, editor, and advisor on a wide range of communication products, including, but not limited to: public announcements; speeches; briefings and memos; letters; media and constituent responses and other related products.
- Assists in developing and executing the department’s editorial and operational processes to ensure timely and efficient movement of information from conception to dissemination.
- Assist in transforming high-level priorities and goals into smaller projects with achievable deadlines.
- Serves as primary Communications department liaison to other City departments and external stakeholders.
- Represents the department and the director in meetings while relaying guidance, positions, and priorities to internal and external parties.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Policy, or related field and experience with performing the essential duties listed above; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Valid State of Michigan driver’s license
Salary : $71,917 - $91,101
