What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Planner position at City of Dearborn?
This position is responsible for performing a wide range of complex, professional-level planning tasks. Responsibilities may include managing projects; assisting in the development of the City master plan; and analyzing complex data. May supervise others.
These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.
- Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; coordinating staff training; and supporting personnel procedures.
- Manages related projects, including: developing project timelines; establishing project objectives; and monitoring project progress and performance.
- Assists in establishing land utilization, highways plan, residential developments, retail and commercial development, industrial development, public facilities, and related components of the City Master Plan.
- Gathers and analyzes data for use in a variety of reports or other materials; prepares related maps and graphics; prepare summaries based on research findings.
- Conducts specialized studies of the planning program; prepares and conducts presentations outlining study findings.
- Assists in conducting field surveys to develop a program for collecting land development information.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Bachelor's degree in Planning or related field and 3 years of related experience; or, Associate's degree and 5 years of related experience; or, all required certification(s) and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Master's degree preferred.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
