GENERAL DESCRIPTIONResponsible for assisting with the installation, administration, connectivity, operation and maintenance of all technology equipment, desktops, laptops, servers, network operating systems, and telephony computer systems. Responsible for assisting with network backups, network security including antivirus and intrusion detection. Supports and assists in the enforcement of existing security policies and standards. Interfaces with end users, provides computer and network related technical support for all city personnel as necessary and work as solutions driven team along with System Support Specialists and Network Administrators. Participates in security and network infrastructure related projects.SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Technology. SUPERVISION EXERCISEDNone.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCity technology operations: Support the operations of technology infrastructure including performing installation, repair and maintenance of all technology equipment. Maintain site documentation, asset records, accurate work orders/tickets and cable assignment records. Receive and organize equipment, Responsible for following and enforcing city standards, operational policies and procedures. Drive city-owned vehicle to job sites as required. MPLS VRF operations: Work with other technical support staff to complete orders, resolve issues and escalate to network administrator or ISO. Maintain customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns and answering questions. Oversee construction activities including reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints as they relate to conduit, cabling, and equipment placement for network projects. Communicate in person and on the phone, including as part of a team-wide phone service desk. Test and Troubleshoot: Use testing and survey tools to install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair Ethernet, wired and wireless networks. Analyze recurring issues to formulate an effective resolution action plan including providing feedback to the networking administrator for recommended updates of procedures and standards. Tier one network support: Provide first contact for technical support issues for the networking team including answering customer phone calls, ticket triage, and equipment repair and troubleshooting of network services. Provide field support for networking administrator for equipment and service installation, repair and troubleshooting. PERIPHERAL DUTIESPerforms all other related duties as assigned, including any special or recurring projects that may be assigned. This role is actively involved in the annual budget process, contributing to purchase recommendations and gathering quotes.
