What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal PT Utility Worker - THF position at City of Denison?
Performs field work related to parks maintenance, recreational activities and special events. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists field crews with maintenance and repairs of parks, including landscaping, irrigation, equipment repairs, athletic facilities, artificial and natural turf management issues, and addresses safety issues.
- Operates hand tools, weed eaters, mowers, and other various equipment types used for division.
- Maintains all equipment, vehicles, tools, etc. in proper, safe, and clean working order.
- Maintains and repairs picnic tables, fences, benches, trash cans, walkways, playground equipment and other park items.
- Performs the job in a safe manner and in compliance with policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee handbook.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment
- Knowledge and skill in the use of hand tools, machines and other similar equipment used for divisional purposes.
ABILITY TO:
- Ability to learn a variety of construction and maintenance processes and equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
- Ability to understand & follow simple oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
QUALIFICIATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
- Must have high school diploma/GED
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must have driving record sufficient for coverage by City's auto liability carrier
- Ability to obtain C.P.R./A.E.D. Certification
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequent amounts of walking
- Frequent amounts of driving
- Ability to lift and/or carry objects ranging from 1-25 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or carry objects ranging from 25-50 pounds
- Ability to turn knobs, levers, cranks, wrenches, valves and handles
- Occasionally required to squat, kneel and crawl as job requires
- Frequently required to bend, climb, reach above head or below shoulder level
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and inclement weather when required
- Must be prepared to engage with park patrons to establish a positive experience at T.H.F. Park
- Always in proper, presentable, approved T.H.F. Park attire
