Summary

Responsible to be a Visual storyteller/Communicator of multi-media used to inform, entertain and educate citizens of the activities and services in the City of Denton.

Essential Functions and Other Important Duties

Essential Functions:

  • Organizes production, including videography, editing and post-production to deliver videos that inform, entertain and educate stakeholders of the activities and services in the City of Denton.
  • Responsible for multi-media projects including public service announcements, programs, and videos as well as multi-camera production of public meetings.
  • Utilizes a variety of video production equipment and software including Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.
  • Oversees multiple projects with differing complexity, content, deadlines, and technical issues in both in-the-field and post-production environments.
  • Produces (shoots and edits) as well as handles the graphic design look for projects.
  • Provides support to the Denton Television (DTV) Manager in the production of content for DTV.
  • Performs research related to the procurement of equipment.
  • Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance.
Additional Duties:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:


  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on television and video production
  • Three years (3) experience in video shooting and editing
  • One (1) year of experience in live television production and media management.
OR
  • Two years of college coursework in radio, television, and film
  • Five (5) years of professional video production experience
OR
  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
Core Competencies:
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, as well as policies and procedures regarding video production.
  • Skill in technical production non-linear editing, lighting (both studio and field), grip work, videography, audio, and graphic animation.
  • Skill in creativity, troubleshooting technical issues and time management.
  • Skill in?still photography and video production.
  • Skill at the intermediate level, working with Microsoft Office 365 software.
  • Ability to evaluate content and convey information effectively.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work, including maintaining attention to details and quality, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff and the community.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Preferences:
  • Drone licensing/experience
  • Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish oral and written) preferred in some settings.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
  • Must pass a physical examination
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule
