Responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, calibration, repairs and maintaining electronic instrumentation, fiber and ethernet networks for both Water Treatment Plants as well as remote site facilities.Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position require the use of a digital multi-meter, Loop calibrator, Hart field communicator, fiber test equipment, instrumentation process test equipment and computer-based applications to configure and troubleshoot process monitoring equipment.

- Constructs process monitoring and control systems from specific instrumentation and communication devices, installs, views PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs, calibrates, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs major electronic systems and peripheral devices per manufacturer's specification in conjunction with Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations
- Reads complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and shop drawings for the purpose of installation, troubleshooting and repairing of major systems and minor subsystems and components; should have some ability to troubleshoot motor starter circuits
- Troubleshoots, installs, and calibrates various instruments, including ultrasonic level transmitters, transit time flow meters, Doppler flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, various gas analyzers, turbidity analyzers, chlorine residual analyzers, dissolved oxygen transmitters, and sludge blanket level transmitters
- Utilizes a wide range of test equipment, computers, PC based software analyzer programs, oscilloscopes, data analyzers, analog and digital multi-meters, Hart Field communicators, Loop calibrators, fiber testers and other test equipment, while performing tests to identify problems and calibrate equipment to performance standards
- Maintains the safe and efficient use of materials, tools, work trucks and test equipment and keeps a clean safe work environment for personal
- Complies with plant and City of Denton policies and procedures
- Maintains telephone and radio contact with operation and management personnel
- Pulls and terminates cable for instrumentation installs
- Performs soldering on electronic components
- Performs basic mechanical repairs as required
- Maintains shop and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of the organization
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrument & Controls Technician or performing similar duties in a related position
- Instrumentation/Controls Associates degree or Electronics Technician Associates degree
- Military job training in a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) field that required an extensive electronic application.
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- Ability to satisfactorily work with co-workers
- Ability to adhere to all safety requirements established for the Water Production?Department
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of and understanding lock & tag out procedures and requirements according to OSHA standards
- Advanced knowledge of 120v circuits and below. Performs inspections in compliance with the national electrical code
- Knowledge of instrumentation and analyzers that measure process parameters
- Ability to lead by example and sharing of knowledge/skill
- Ability to perform work in a workman type manner
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to correctly interpret complex detailed electrical, electronic drawings and prints
- Strong knowledge in the use of personal computers and numerous software applications such as Excel, Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
- Prior experience with Fiber Optics, SCADA systems and licensed and unlicensed radio systems
- Prior experience working in an industrial Process Instrumentation and Controls environment
- Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
- Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
- Must be able to work after hours "on call" duties on a rotational basis as necessary. The "on call" time frame includes weekdays after the end of a shift and entire weekend
- While on call must be able to respond and arrive at the plant within 1 hour of an emergency call out notification
- Must pass a physical examination
- Must be able to work the normal weekday schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with overtime as required
- Must be able to work above normal heights; 10-100 feet and in confined spaces using safety equipment
