JOB
Reporting directly to the Director of Community Development, this role offers comprehensive administrative and technical assistance to the Community Development Department. Engaging in a variety of technical tasks, the position entails handling the intake and processing of diverse land use applications and permits. This includes applications from the public, developers, builders, contractors, and engineers. Additionally, the role involves the dissemination of detailed technical information to the public concerning the City's zoning regulations and building codes.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Maintains the central calendar for Planning Board and Commission meetings, deadlines, court dates and associated activities. Prepares legal advertisements, posts agendas and public notices for various boards and commissions. Assists Management in compiling data and assembling/distributing packets for board meetings; provides other technical support as needed. Performs customer service by responding to general questions regarding planning information, land development regulations and public hearing processes. Receives and reviews permit applications and plans for completeness; communicates deficiencies to permit applicants; determines and calculates applicable fees; identifies holds on projects. Routes plans/routing form to reviewers as appropriate for permits issued by Community Development; monitors and coordinates review of plans; assesses requirements imposed by plan reviewers for completeness; prepares correspondence to applicants regarding reviewer comments and additional submittal requirements; serves as a main point of contact for customers, interested parties, and staff to check on the status of permits. Responds to inquiries from developers, architects, engineers, contractors and the public regarding City development codes and regulations, including zoning and permitted land uses; explains and provides information regarding the permit application process and permits required for a particular type of project as well as parcel numbers and permits issued; provides forms and check lists. Inputs a variety of information into permit tracking database, audits parcel description owner, applicant and contractor information in database. Assists in completing public requests for information on behalf of the department. Works closely with the Code Enforcement Officer on Stop Work Orders and Substandard Structures. Processes purchase orders and invoices: inputs accurate invoice data into electronic purchasing system for payment, reconciles invoices with the Finance Department’s financial reports and vendor statements; requisitions and receives purchase orders electronically for Community Development. Interacts in a professional and respectful manner with City staff, officials, other agencies, and the public. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
