Utility Maintenance Supervisor – Water Production Pay: $99,536 - $126,089 annually Full-Time, Exempt, Benefit EligibleAre you passionate about ensuring high-qualify utility services for your community? The City of Eagan is seeking a Utility Maintenance Supervisor - Water Production to join our team! In this role, you’ll supervise maintenance staff and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and repair of our water production treatment facilities, storage, and wells. You will also assist with the chemical treatment of water supply and ensure compliance with required state health tests. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Plans, schedules, assigns personnel, monitors, and documents problems (manages) on a daily basis making the best possible use of manpower, materials, and equipment to carry out established priorities in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water production treatment facilities, storage, and wells as directed by the Superintendent of UtilitiesOversees the operation, maintenance, calibration, and repair (as necessary) of the water production, treatment and storage facilities, and all related equipment. Orders and maintains an inventory of chemicals, general supplies, repair parts and equipment needed for proper operation of the treatment process. Assists with mixing, testing, analyzing, and adjusting the chemical treatment of water supply, and performs all required state health testsProvides supervision (assigns, rewards, disciplines, and directs), training, and technical direction and support to Utility production staff. Participates in the interview and selection of utility maintenance employees (operations and production). Conducts formal employee performance evaluationsOversees routine and emergency repairs to ensure the safety of the public; assists with after-hour emergencies as needed and participates in maintenance activities of critical systems, especially in high-risk traffic areas; advises Superintendent of Utilities as needed; oversees work to ensure completion and qualityAssists in plan review, final inspections, and warranty inspection of new utility construction, and makes recommendation regarding acceptance to Superintendent of UtilitiesResponsible for the training and enforcement of safety standards and applicable city work procedures, environmental rules, and personnel policies of utility operations employeesReceives, documents, resolves, and assists others with citizen complaints regarding drinking waterAssigns appropriate financial coding (business, account, project, and contract numbers) to invoices for approval by the Superintendent of UtilitiesAssists the Utility Superintendent in the preparation of the budget and capital improvement plan (CIP) for the water wells, treatment plants, storage reservoirs, and booster stations; utilizes asset managementAssists with documentation and reporting of water treatment, water distribution, and sewer collection systems, utility operations, and events in accordance with city, state, and federal mandates and guidelinesContributes to the development of long and short-range programs for water distribution, sanitary collection, and storm water conveyance systemsIdentifies and evaluates vendor products and/or services and makes recommendations regarding equipment, infrastructure, and other utility related items to Superintendent of UtilitiesIdentifies, estimates, and requisitions supplies and inventory as neededResponds to utility and City emergencies as needed or assignedCompletes other duties as assignedOther Position Functions: Assists with Utility facility cleaning and upgrading under the direction of the Superintendent of UtilitiesAssists other Utility Supervisors when directedPerforms other technical work as apparent or assignedAssists in snow and ice control at Utility facilities as neededAssists other departments as needed when directed

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Desired Qualifications: Valid and current Minnesota Class-D or higher Wastewater Operator licenseTraining or schooling in supervision of personnel and/or Public Works ManagementTwo (2) years of experience supervising the operation and maintenance of a Minnesota Class-B or Class-A water treatment and distribution systems including infrastructure, appurtenances, and equipmentFive (5) years of working experience in the operation and maintenance of a water distribution, wastewater collection, and storm conveyance systems in either a Minnesota Class-B or Class-A water or wastewater utility system including infrastructure, appurtenances, and equipmentValid, current, and unrestricted Class-A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsementsValid and current Minnesota Class 2-C Boilers licenseSupervision: Direct supervision of Utility Maintenance Workers (5) and seasonal Interns (1)This position also coordinates and oversees the work of other department or divisional personnel temporarily assigned to the Utility Supervisor, including treatment plant and administration personnel, in the absence of the other Utility Supervisors under the direction of the Superintendent UtilitiesWork Hours and Schedules: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week with frequent additional hours before and/or after the normal work day or work week.
