GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Town of Fairfield Conservation Department is seeking paid summer workers. The positions are for a period of 8-10 weeks, starting June 3, 2024. Deadline for receipt of application is May 17, 2024. For additional information/questions: please call (203) 256-3071

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Clearing fallen trees
  • Repainting trail blazes
  • Trail maintenance such as mowing/weed whacking
  • Making and installing wood signs for Town open spaces
  • Planting trees/shrubs
  • Removing invasive species
  • Erosion control projects on trails
  • Trash removal

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Knowledge of Town open spaces/trails is a plus
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be capable of working outdoors with and without direct supervision in all weather conditions
  • Experience with hand tools, mowing, basic carpentry, planting and yard work/brush clearing is desired

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Workers must be 18 years old
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
SCHEDULE
  • Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm
PAY RANGE
  • $18/hour
AFFILIATION
  • Non-Bargaining Unit, Seasonal Position
