This role involves compiling, entering, and scanning financial, accounting, and related data and reports as well as the responsibility for processing, verifying, and recording financial data or accounting functions relating to accounts receivable, general ledger, purchasing, and related activities. Work is performed within the framework of established procedures, policies, rules, and regulations governing the recording and reporting of financial transactions. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Finance Director and is checked for accuracy through internal and external audit procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Track, process and reconcile payments, purchase orders, invoices, statements, checks, refund requisitions etc., in compliance with financial policies.
Setup new account information in billing system.
Contact new vendors and answer any questions they may have.
Reconcile daily bank activity and other banking functions.
Manage communications with department supervisors and managers pertaining to the account payable process.
Knowledge of general ledger accounting structures.
Reconcile account receivable accounts to the general ledger.
Research and respond to billing questions.
Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables' data.
Manage multiple accounts payable invoices and statements for accuracy.
Operates various office machines.
Responds to information inquiries from the public, vendors, and other departments.
Provides effective and efficient customer services and promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduation from high school (or GED) supplemented by training in accounting, bookkeeping, purchasing, or a related field; bookkeeping experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Considerable knowledge of modern bookkeeping practices, procedures, and methods.
Considerable knowledge of office terminology, procedures, and equipment.
Considerable knowledge of automated accounting systems and their use in assigned area.
Knowledge of fund accounting used in a municipal accounting system.
Ability to proficiently use data processing equipment.
Ability to maintain complex accounting records.
Ability to perform detailed work accurately and to initiate and maintain necessary follow-up.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Skill in the operation of office machines
