What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern - Parks position at City of Fishers?
The Fishers Parks Department is seeking a Summer Intern to assist with Summer Camp and other events. This is a seasonal position that will last from May 2024 – early August 2024. The Parks Intern will assist the Camp Coordinator, participate in camp programing, and other events as needed. Shifts will be during camp hours Monday - Friday or evenings and weekends for events as needed. This role is expected to work 30 hours a week from 6/3/24 - 8/2/24.
- Assist Camp Coordinator with all aspects of camp including programing, supervision of campers and staff, and administrative needs;
- Assist Parks team (as needed) with planning, preparation, execution of summer events;
- Engage camp participants in a variety of ways to ensure a fun and memorable experience;
- Travel around Fishers to various camp locations to distribute supplies, assist at different locations, and support events;
- Set-up and teardown of daily camp activities and events;
- Attend fieldtrips and provide support to Head Counselors;
- Provide exceptional customer service while staffing camps and events;
- Storage inventory and organization responsibilities;
- Specific projects, as assigned.
- Seeking College level Intern; Preference to those pursuing parks and recreation, education, child development, or similar degree;
- Ability to work approximately 30 hours per week required;
- Must be able to be cleared to drive based on city insurance requirements including a valid driver's license and 3 years of experience as a licensed driver not include permit time.
- Personal vehicle to use for transportation to various city locations throughout shift is required.
- Must be comfortable working with children ages 5 - 12 in an active camp environment;
- Ability to work under pressure and during sometimes stressful situations;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Must be highly self-motivated and detail oriented;
- Ability to organize and prioritize projects efficiently with tight deadlines;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and conduct physical tasks in all weather conditions required.

Salary : $15
