Summary: This position works under the direct supervision of the therapeutic recreation supervisor and coordinator during the summer, to provide support for individuals with disabilities to participate in general recreation class offerings.
Hours may include evenings and weekends, 20-35 hours per week.
Provides inclusion facilitation for individuals with disabilities in general recreation programs like summer camps, swimming lessons, farm programs, etc.

Previous experience working with positive behavior supports is desired.
Prefer having three (3) months (460 hours) of full time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children.
Language Skills: Ability to read instructions and communicate with City supervisor and the general public.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, groups of clients, parents, customers, and the general public.
Knowledge of American Sign Language and Spanish desirable, but not required
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve and implement practical solutions to problems.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Foresee and initiate proactive measures to ensure program quality, customer service and facility integrity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to blood borne pathogens and uncontrollable physical behaviors such as kicking or biting.

Performance Step 1
- Performs as required by job description with direct supervision.
- Develops facilitation strategies and individualized support plans for youth with disabilities in general recreation programs.
- Communicates effectively with individuals with disabilities, parents, and instructors.
- Performs all duties outlined in Step 1.
- Communicates with inclusion coordinators regarding outcomes of inclusion intervention.
- Completes 3 months with a minimum of 200 contact hours.
- Favorable review by ARO Inclusion Coordinator.
- Performs all duties outlined in Step 1 and 2.
- Bachelor's degree in an associated field.
- Assists with inclusion trainings for summer camp staff and other ARO inclusion aides.
- Performs independently to make initial contact with individuals and families and provides class support.
- Completion of seasonal/annual programs and positive feedback from participants.
- Completes a minimum of 480 contact hours.
- Favorable review by ARO Inclusion Coordinator.
- CTRS, Behavior Specialist or comparable certification will start at this level.
- Performs all duties outlined in Step 1-3.
- Supports the inclusion coordinator, other inclusion aides and provides facilitation strategy ideas.
- Accumulates a minimum of 680 hours and a favorable review by the ARO Inclusion Coordinator.
