A Communications Coordinator job is available with The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department. The Code Compliance Department seeks to make Fort Worth the most livable city in Texas by providing services for code enforcement, and animal Care & Control. To do this, we are looking for a Communications Coordinator over our multifaceted department.
This position and the team are charged with all aspects of communications and public relations for all aspects of the department. These include but are not limited to planning, developing, implementing and managing all departmental communications programs. This position will have an immediate focus on triaging concerns related to social media traffic and on camera experience dealing with media is preferred. Overseeing, coordinating and approving printed and electronic publications and/or media releases for external distribution; ensuring consistent voice and branded presentation of content on City website and across all media and social media; and ensuring compliance with federal government and the World Wide Web Consortium for web properties accessibility requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Administration or a related field.
- Four (4) years of public relations, journalism, marketing, media communications, or a closely related field.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Two (2) years of administrative management or supervisory responsibility.
- Understanding of effective communications and marketing strategies for Code Compliance Department operations, including code enforcement and animal welfare.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including SharePoint.
- Proficient with communications software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Loomly, GovDelivery, and OpenCities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and evolving communication needs.
- Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
- Serves as the primary media spokesperson, media liaison and communications resource for the department. Develops press releases. Represents the City or department at external organizations including community meetings, civic organizations, schools and governmental groups.
- Develops strategic communication programs, public relations campaigns, special events and promotional activities for the department or City.
- Recommends and assists in the implementation of program goals and objectives; establishes schedules and methods for providing services; implements policies and procedures; monitors communication program performance; and recommends and implements modifications to programs and procedures.
- Plans, reviews, edits, writes, produces and manages content for internal/external communications, marketing and promotional materials, website and social media.
- Collaborates with senior management to receive approval on final version; and lays out the content for presentation on the web, email and social media.
- Develops communications programs and continuously monitors and evaluates the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of communications programs and campaigns.
- Consults on overall web strategy; creates interfaces between business systems and the website; and creates graphic design for promotional materials and the web.
