What are the responsibilities and job description for the Researcher position at CITY OF FRANKFORT KY?
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the Museum and Historic Sites Supervisor’s direction, the Researcher is responsible for aiding and maintaining research activities at the Capital City Museum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Able to access and update automated collections management system using Past Perfect 5 computer software.
- Able to access and use the public library and archives at Capital City Museum.
- Conducts research related to the history of Frankfort and Franklin County at the behest of the public, while also aiding in access and research requests made in house.
- Work to digitize and make archival material accessible
- Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
- Strong communication
- Motivated and personally driven
- Detail oriented
- Computer skills, including, but not limited to: Google Suite, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Preferred familiarity with Past Perfect 5 Museum Software
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience with cataloging and documenting historic materials preferred. Should be able to work independently on self-assigned and directed projects.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is typically performed indoors at the Capital City Museum. Should be able to lift weights of 20 pounds.
