What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop and Inventory Control Manager position at City of Gainesville, GA?

Responsible for the management and maintenance of all DWR maintenance shop equipment to ensure the safety and efficiency of the maintenance division. This position will ensure that the maintenance shop is kept clean, organized and safety protocols are in place and followed. Responsible for managing the spare parts inventory for maintenance staff and will also assist both the Water Treatment and Water Reclamation Facilities in managing and ordering spare parts for operational resiliency and efficiency.

 

Responsible for administering the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), related to spare parts inventory. Responsible for daily distribution of materials, tools and supplies to maintenance operators and maintenance technicians. Responsible for all associated warehouse functions: shipping, receiving, organizing and systematic storage of all supplies and materials. Responsible for after-hours access to inventory on a 24-hour basis. Responsible for all purchasing required to maintain an adequate inventory of parts. 

This position is responsible for managing the DWR maintenance shop daily operations. Maintains physical condition, cleanliness and organization of the shop. Maintains and inspects shop equipment including but not limited to welding machines, torches, grinders, cutters, hoists, presses, etc. Keeps records of inspections in CMMS. 

 

Acts as CMMS system administrator related to spare parts inventory for the DWR Maintenance Division and the DWR Treatment Plant Facilities. Works closely with both DWR Maintenance Staff and Asset Management Staff to inventory and track spare parts. Will assist in identifying critical spare parts needed for sustainable operation of all DWR vertical assets including treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, water tanks, AMI infrastructure, telemetry and SCADA systems. 

 

Works closely with Asset Management Staff, Plant Staff and Maintenance Staff to identify and inventory critical spare parts needed for sustainable operation of the DWR water system. Having knowledge and experience with treatment plant equipment and other related equipment is preferred. Removes outdated spare parts related to retired equipment and expired items from inventory as needed.

 

Monitors inventory levels of department equipment, tools, supplies, and other materials; ensures availability of adequate materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new or replacement materials; picks up supplies as needed. Conducts routine audits of spare part inventory.

 

Ensures safety protocols are in place and followed. Keeps up-to-date safety records including safety data sheet records for all chemical purchased and stored. Safeguards shop operations and inventory by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

 

Works with the Asset Program Manager, Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Superintendents in budget preparation based on the needs of the shops. This will include budgeting of consumable supplies and other spare parts. Will also assist in identifying any   improvements/repairs needed to the shop buildings or infrastructure.

 

Performs other related duties as required.

 

Employee is on call and subject to recall to duty in cases of emergency.

Education and Experience:

 

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

 

Technical school diploma in related field preferred.

 

Warehouse experience preferred.

 

Minimum two years work experience in water/wastewater treatment preferred.

 

Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.

 

Experience in database related computer management systems/CMMS.

 

Licenses and Certifications:

 

Valid Class C driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

 

Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.

 

Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.

 

Level I Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Computer skills is a must with experience in using Microsoft Office products. Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is preferred.

 

Knowledge of basic math & record keeping procedures.

 

Knowledge of inventory control procedures.

 

Knowledge of water and wastewater equipment and parts.

 

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

 

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate.

Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate.

Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level I Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate.

 

Maximum of 15% in certification incentive pay. 

 

 

Salary : $45,448 - $57,990
