Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Water Superintendent directs the technical inspections, maintenance, and repair of the City's water distribution system.
The Water Distribution Lead is responsible for the administration and technical operations of programs, activities, and functions related to the construction, extension, inspection, operation, and maintenance of the water distribution system. Consults and takes direction from the Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent or Superintendent but exercises independent judgment in accomplishing the work and developing new programs, and is held accountable for results.
Ensures compliance with all City, State and Federal regulations, standards, and operating criteria. Additional Information
Starting Pay: $16.40 p/h
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent, (GED)
Four (4) years of experience in collections, construction, maintenance, and operation of water distribution systems
A valid New Mexico Water Distribution Operator Certification Level II (or above); Certification through reciprocity shall be acceptable within 90 days of hire.
Level III NMED Certification in Water Distribution Systems within eighteen (18) months of hire
Two (2) years in a supervisory / technical lead capacity. Graduate from an accredited two-year Public Wastewater Systems or Wastewater Technology program with a Level II certification may be substituted for technical lead experience.
Valid driver"s license (state of residence), must meet city"s insurability requirements
Other Conditions:
Must pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Commercial Driver"s License (CDL) A or B (state of residence), with medical certificate.
