Summary
This position is responsible for assigned programs and outreach. Latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and coordinating programs assigned by the Programs Coordinator
- Promotes literacy and the use of the Library though creating and conducting programs;
- Creates and distributes marketing materials such as leaflets, posters, flyers, newsletters, and e-newsletters;
- Creates and distributes marketing for programs;
- Stays abreast of current trends in library programming and education;
- Ensures programs support the Library’s mission, strategic goals, and values;
- Provides outstanding customer service;
- Creates re-occurring small scale programs, and assists in creating special large scale programs;
- Assists in coordinating outside agencies for programs;
- Assists in providing outreach to Garden City residents;
- Develops curriculum for programs, purchases supplies, sets up tables, chairs, and equipment, and leads events;
- Records and reports program participation statistics to the Programs Coordinator;
- Assists with inventory of department books, supplies, and materials;
- Provides support and supervision of volunteers when the Programs Coordinator is not present;
- Assists in the creation and proof reading of the newsletter, e-newsletter, and other marketing materials;
- Creates and displays marketing materials for assigned programs;
- Creates and submits social media posts to Programs Coordinator;
- Submits assigns programs to online community calendars;
- Periodically works the Help Desk to supplement staff shortages and understand patron needs and interests;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Acceptable Experience and Training
- High school diploma or GED equivalency is required and some college or business school with library or computer classes is preferred;
- At least two (2) years general library experience is required; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Special Qualifications
- Idaho driver’s license may be required.
