The City of Geneva is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented GIS Technician to join our engineering division at Public Works. The GIS Technician is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and managing geographic data to support various projects to enhance and improve our community. Essential job functions

Including but not limited to...

  • Update and maintain GIS data pertaining to utilities (electric, water, fiber optic, sanitary and storm water) and other associated City databases.
  • Collect and compile geographic data from various sources, including surveys, GPS and UAS flights
  • Create and update maps using GIS software
  • Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to provide GIS support and expertise
  • Maintain documentation of GIS processes and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles
  • Experience working with databases and data collection techniques
  • Familiarity with CAD software and GPS technology
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills
  • Valid Driver's License
  • FAA UAS Remote Pilot (Part 107) License - must be obtained if hired

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $62,557 - $84,452, with the anticipated hiring range up to $70,000 DOQ. The City of Geneva offers a competitive benefit package that includes generous comprehensive healthcare insurance, generous paid time off and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension program.
