The City of Georgetown Water Utilities Department is now accepting applications for Water Plant Operator I
Position Overview:
Under general supervision, performs basic technical work in the operation and maintenance of the City's water treatment plant, water wells, and related equipment ensuring the efficient delivery of safe potable water. Monitors plant and distribution system using SCADA computer system. Reports to the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment. Must be able to lift or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, climb and reach. Must be able to safely enter and maneuver in confined spaces. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 80 - 100 pounds.
Qualifications and Requirements Water Plant Operator I:
- High School Diploma and/or an Associate's degree in Math, Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or another related field supplemented by a minimum of zero to one (0 - 1) years' working experience in the field of Water Treatment Plan Operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License
- Valid South Carolina B Commercial Driver's License, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
